Every relationship goes through periods of loneliness, disconnection and doubt.   Left unattended over months and years,  what began as a mutual yearning to be cared for and loved can turn into frustration, hopelessness or increasing conflict.   But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Every human being has an innate drive for connection.   Psychology calls this instinct Attachment, and it is our attachment needs that provide us with the roadmap out of the constriction and distress of a troubled relationship and into the freedom, safety and openness of a loving partnership.

For over forty years, a growing group of psychotherapists all over the world has been researching and refining this roadmap of attachment, applying new discoveries in the psychology, neuroscience, and physiology of human relationships to develop the practice of Emotionally Focused Therapy.   This is the work I do, uncovering the often-buried sources of conflict or disconnection in each couple, and revitalizing the yearning for connection that has been hidden behind walls of defensiveness and fear..

If this sounds a little complicated, or too simple, or overly ambitious or just plain unrealistic, I invite you to spend 45 minutes with me while I give you a more complete picture of how I work, and how I would work with you.  You can contact me by phone or email, provided below.
